2024 Vancouver First Responders Half Marathon Trail Run

The Canadian Mental Health Association, Vancouver-Fraser (CMHA-VF) is excited to be one of the charities of choice for the annual First Responders Half Marathon, taking place in Vancouver and other cities across Canada. This highly regarded event offers an incredible opportunity to raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by first responders in our communities, while supporting their mental health and wellness.

At CMHA-VF, we believe that everyone deserves to be mentally healthy and live in a healthy community. Through community-based mental health education, services, and supports for all ages, we are committed to transforming mental health practices through programs that prioritize innovation, inclusion, and collaboration.

One of the programs we are particularly proud of is Resilient Minds®, a peer-led, trauma-informed psychological health awareness training designed specifically for first responders. This program equips participants with the skills to recognize and address psychological stress and trauma, both in themselves and their colleagues. It also teaches participants how to apply effective communication techniques when responding to distressed citizens and strategies for boosting their own resilience and managing stress.

By participating in the First Responders Half Marathon, you are helping CMHA-VF continue to offer vital programs like Resilient Minds® and supporting those who dedicate their lives to keeping our communities safe. Whether you run, donate, or spread the word, your involvement helps first responders gain the skills they need to cope with the psychological toll of their work, ensuring their mental health and well-being.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who serve and protect us. Join us in this important event and help us honor and support our first responders.
