Run for Your Mind with BMO Vancouver Marathon 2025

Running for a purpose bigger than ourselves keeps us going, even when the training gets tough or race day feels daunting. It’s all about your mindset. For me, it all comes down to focusing on your “why”. Why are you doing this? What drives you to keep moving forward? Whether it’s the lives you’re hoping to impact, the personal challenge you’re taking on, or simply being part of something bigger than yourself, that “why” can fuel every single step.

This year, I’m running again because mental health is deeply personal to me. It’s a cause that’s touches everyone – whether directly or indirectly – and yet, all too it’s often overlooked or stigmatized. Running and fundraising for CMHA-VF is my way of being part of the solution.

Through their vital programs, CMHA-VF provides services that save lives and empower individuals to thrive. As someone who works in CMHA-VF’s Employment Program, I get to hear and see firsthand these programs make. Every day, I get to witness stories of hope and resilience. Every day, I realise how important it is for someone struggling alone to have access to the necessary resources and support to stay afloat. And, every step I take during this race is a commitment to my community to raising providing support and resources for people those who need it most.

This year I have a personal goal: to surpass last year’s fundraising efforts. But more than that, I want  to inspire more people to join this movement.. Every step we take together and every dollar we raise can amplify the message that mental health matters…

I have teamed up with my friend and colleagues to make this happen! Together, by running for CMHA-VF, we hope to build a stronger and resilient mental healthy community.

Christian Ishimwe is proudly leading us as our Captain for Team CMHA, Vancouver-Fraser this year! Join him and our team as we Run for Our Mind and work together to make mental health support accessible for all.
